Is it Time to Book Your Portrait Session?
Does this sound familiar?
You walk past it everyday, that space in your house on your wall, and think, ‘that really is the best place to hang a family portrait, maybe this year we’ll finally get it done. No wait, I think I have a picture from last year on our vacation on my phone, I’ll just use that one, but where in the world do I get it printed? I think there’s a 1 hour photo place that could print it…but what size do I even get? Maybe I’ll get the tape measure and measure it out. Yes, today is the day, I’m getting that picture up this weekend.’

What is #existinphotographs?
Social media is full of trending topics and “advise.” I mean, can you believe people lined up at 3am, or earlier, to get their hands on the limited edition Stanley X Target cup! I will admit, it is really cute, but something about not sleeping and the possibility of not grabbing one of those super cute pink cups, just isn’t my [large, Stanley] cup of tea…and if it is yours, hey, I’m not mad at you! You do you boo! I always say everyone has their “thing.”

Embrace Your Age, Embrace Your Wisdom
I had the pleasure of working with Blackbird Salon Owner, Jennifer Holmes and hair and makeup artist Sara Fraser with Sara Fraser Beauty on a recent client feature of Deborah. I’ll admit, sometimes as a creative, I get into a creative rut…spend a day with these ladies, and that is sure to change!

Booking a portrait session encompasses so many ups and downs! First finding your trusted photographer, but no worries, you’ve found me (insert check mark) and then fitting the session into an already jam-packed schedule…and then the number one question, besides, ‘okay where do I put my hands,’ ‘What do we wear? Selecting the right outfits is crucial to ensure your photos turn out as stunning as you imagine. Today, we’ll take a journey through my thought process, and I’ll guide you through the process of choosing the perfect outfits for your photo session.

Great…another project
By now, I should know that I tend to quite frequently bite off more than I can chew, but if you know me, I’m such a sucker for a DIY…so after watching a video on Sue Bryce’s backdrop painting, I decided I’d give it a try.
A Week Away From My Family
“Peace out hubby…you got this,” is what my husband thinks I said when I left for Texas School of Photography in April, as I loaded my bags up and prepared to head out to Dallas, Texas for the week. This would be the first time in forever, for myself and not work related (well not corporate America work related) I decided to attend a week long training to level up my photography skills.

What’s YOUR Why?
Find any photographers “about me” page and literally for as long as they can remember they have had a camera in their hand…their dad, their grandma, their (fill in the blank) had a camera, they fell in love and now they are photographers. Actually, ironically, I didn’t have a camera when I was younger, but my grandpa did…a film one in fact that I, at the age of around 5, thought was just a toy, decided to grab and position my dolls in a group pose and snap away, and may or may not have blamed someone else for “wasting” the film, (but hey those were great poses and I’m sure not a soul blinked), but for as long as I can remember two things were ALWAYS important in my household growing up. Family and Photographs!

Ready…Set…Go!
Have you ever had an “ahh-ha” moment…where something just went off inside of you and you just all of a sudden got clarity? Can you pinpoint that date? For me, it is May 6…and not because I spent the entire day drinking margaritas…which let me tell you, I most certainly did not!
